Creamy Almond Milk (With Chocolate Version)

Almond Milk is one of those things I’ve always wanted to try making but didn’t because I thought it was a lot of work. Totally not the case! Now that I’ve made it, I’m never buying store bought again!

All you need is a high speed blender, a nut milk bag, and a few simple ingredients. I got my bag from Amazon and it was only $6 and came with two.

Ingredients: Makes 5 cups

  • 1 cup almonds
  • 5 cups filtered water (plus more for soaking)
  • sprinkle of sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2-3 dates

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Soak the almonds in water (make sure they are fully covered) overnight or at least for a few hours.
  2. Drain the almonds and add them to a blender with the 5 cups of filtered water, sea salt, vanilla, and dates.
  3. Blend all ingredients for two minutes on medium/high.
  4. Place the nut milk bag in a bowl and pour the mixture into it. Squeeze out all the excess milk.
  5. Refrigerate and enjoy!

For chocolate almond milk, after getting all the milk from the nut milk bag, pour the milk into the blender again and add:

  • 3-4 additional dates
  • 1 Tablespoon cacao powder

My husband is a chocolate milk snob but he loves this recipe! Try it out and let me know if you love it 🙂
