You asked for it, here it is! A healthier version of animal fries. We made these with my Black Bean Burger recipe and it was amazing! Instead of sliced cheese, I went with my Baked Vegan Spicy Cheddar Fries recipe. I then topped them with a copycat IN-N-OUT special sauce and grilled onions to make them absolutely perfect. Comment if you try them!
Ingredients:
Vegan Spicy Cheddar Fries (recipe here)
- 3 medium-sized russet potatoes, sliced thin and long
- 1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 2 Tablespoons nutritional yeast (split)
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (omit if you are sensitive to spice)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Grilled Onions
- 1/2 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 cup white onion, chopped
IN-N-OUT Special Sauce
- 1/4 cup vegan mayo (I like this recipe if you want an oil-free mayo)
- 2 Tablespoons ketchup
- 1 & 1/2 Tablespoons sweet relish
- 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
Directions:
- Make the Vegan Spicy Cheddar Fries (recipe here). While they cook, grill the onions by heating the olive oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for 12-15 minutes (until the onion is browned).
- Make the IN-N-OUT special sauce by adding all ingredients to a small bowl. Stir to combine.
- Once the fries are done, top with the special sauce and grilled onions. Enjoy!
